Nebraskans gather at annual Winterfest Flea Market in Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The annual Winterfest Flea Market has been a staple in Lincoln for two decades, bringing specialized vendors from all over the state.
Dottie Gentry has been selling at the flea market, which is held at the Lancaster County Event Center, for several years.
“We retired from cattle ranching and it was kind of boring,” she said. “So we decided to just try to find something that would take up our time and this seemed to be the thing to do.”
Dottie and her husband drive from North Platte every year for the market, which gives them the opportunity to meet more people and sell more products.
Unlike many small businesses impacted by inflation, Dottie said she’s fortunate that she has not had to raise prices.
“I’m trying to keep them down and I know that I may have to someday, but for right now I feel like I’m making money doing it at the price I am,” she said.
As for Dottie, she’s not planning on retiring any time soon.
“I’m 76 so I’m hoping to keep doing it for a long time,” she said.
