Federal Reserve expected to announce interest rate cuts

The Federal Reserve is poised to cut its key interest rate Wednesday.

It’s counter to what it see as threats to the U.S. economy.

It will be the Federal Reserve’s first rate cut since December 2008, when the Great Recession hit.

Most analysts expect the announcement to involve a .25 percent cut in its benchmark short-term rate, that rate affects many consumer and business loans.
