Female suffers significant damage to her hands after firework explosion

The Lancaster County Sheriffs office along with Southeast Rural fire were dispatched to 7005 S 75th street late Saturday night in reference to a firework explosion.

Officials confirmed that after arriving they found a 39-year-old female had suffered significant damage to both of her hands after a firework she was trying to light malfunctioned.

The female was transported by ambulance to Bryan West hospital.

A male was also injured in the explosion, suffering injuries to his legs. He was transported to the hospital by a family friend.

They were celebrating a birthday party at the residence and officials do believe alcohol was involved.
