Former Lincoln radio host Matt ‘McKay’ takes plea deal

A popular Lincoln radio personality pleaded guilty to reduced charges Monday.
According to court documents, Matthew Rydberg, 41, better known as Matt McKay, the former host of Matt McKay Mornings on 106.3 KFRX, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor domestic assault charge. Prosecutors had originally charged Rydberg with felony strangulation.
Rydberg, who was reportedly drunk, cut off breathing to his wife by grabbing her throat in April, according to court documents.
The misdemeanor charge carries a possible penalty of up to one year behind bars.
Sentencing for Rydberg is scheduled for October.
