Vandal slashes multiple tires in the Havelock neighborhood

LPD is searching for whoever slashed multiple vehicle tires over the weekend in the Havelock neighborhood along N. 72nd st.
Witnesses say the suspect was on foot and are very displeased at the act.
“We thought just the one tire… When my husband had to go to work at 6 o’ clock Sunday morning, and he said he had a flat tire, so i needed to take him to work, and we get down the street and there was another flat tire and another flat tire. And we said, something had to be happened, and then we find out a whole bunch of had happened. And then when i came home, i realized both of our back tires were flat,” Havelock resident Linda Fountain said.
“There were at least 7 vehicles found to be damaged that caused over 1 thousand dollars in damage,” LPD Angela Sands reports.
The suspect seemed to have left a trail of slashes down 72nd street, between Morrill and Havelock avenue.
“It’s just a loss for everybody, I mean, we’re out probably $400, $500 dollars just because of somebody’s stupidity,” Fountain said.
The cost of the act unraveled to be a little more than in the pockets of the victims.
“That’s all it is, it’s just meanness,” Fountain said.
Neighbors say the suspect may have been wearing a tie dye shirt.
“One witness reported seeing a suspect in the area and described him as an older white male, 6 foot tall, thin build with long white or grey hair,” Sands said.
The incident is also having the neighbors on edge. It’s just a pain for everybody.
“As a matter of fact, one neighbor right down the street, she’s gonna get a camera now, installed in hers. A lot of people I guess have to get cameras to catch them. But, if that’s what it takes, as long as the neighbors all stick together and try to find the person or stop it from happening again,” Fountain said.
