Nebraska baseball comes alive in fifth to defeat Northwestern
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska baseball opened its series against Northwestern on Friday with an 8-3 win.
After trailing early at Haymarket Park, the Huskers’ bats got hot in the fifth inning to lift them past the Wildcats.
Trailing 3-1 with two runners on base, junior Brice Matthews drove one out to right-center for a base-clearing triple to tie the game at 3.
Shortly after, Max Anderson launched a ball over the left field wall – setting up an impressive two-handed catch by a fan – to give the Huskers a 5-3 lead.
Nebraska will face Northwestern again on Saturday at 2 p.m.
