Warmer, less windy with storms possible by Tuesday

Some really impressive wind gusts were reported on Sunday afternoon, including a 65-mph gust seen in northwest Lancaster County! Norfolk also reported winds around 60 mph, while most of the area saw just over 50 mph. These reports just validate that if you were outside and got to experience the weather at all, it sure was VERY windy.

In fact, if these winds had been seen in association with a thunderstorm, that storm would have been tagged severe for having winds above 58 mph!

Wind Reports

If you are looking for a break from these crazy, hair-in-your-face winds, there’s good news to share! Wind gusts will calm down to only be about 10-15 mph overnight, specifically after midnight. Conditions will calm and allow for a cooler night yet, dropping down into the lower 30s.

Lincoln Tomorrow Wind Gusts

Looking ahead at the next week, temperatures are going to continue to rise through Wednesday, where we’ve got a good chance to see 80s again. But, with warmer weather at this time of the year, storms can often times be right around the corner. This time is no different.

4 Day Temperature Forecast

Late Tuesday night storm chance

As of Sunday afternoon, models are showing some storm development through southeast Nebraska, similarly to how our thunderstorms tracked through on Friday. The timing of these storms will be after sunset, later in the evening on Tuesday at first.

Stormcast

A Marginal (Level 1 of 5) risk has been issued for Tuesday night. That area through Nebraska extends from Holt County down to Hall County on east for almost the entire eastern half. This is not our only chance for some thunderstorms this next week, either, with at least another wave expected Wednesday into Thursday.

Spc Day 3

With the arrival of these systems, our temperatures will fluctuate with them, dragging most of us colder again by the end of the week.
