Amid investigation, owner’s arrest, customers sticking by Lincoln trash company

Bruce Von Busch, one of the co–owners of Von Busch and Sons Refuse was arrested Thursday, according to the Lancaster County Corrections website.
It said he was picked up for violation of home detention after drinking alcohol against court orders.
Court documents said he had been on house arrest since July 2.
This comes the same week clients in the West A Street area told us Von Busch and Sons weren’t picking up their garbage.
“I give them the benefit of the doubt the first time,” Janette Mefford said. “I thought they were struggling and I’d stick with them, but I don’t think so this time because they said they would be here in a couple of days and the grass is still there.”
Another customer, Cindy, who only wanted us to give her first name, told us today she’s been a client for 28 years and has been satisfied with the service.
But she said she’ll be looking for another refuse company after hearing of Von Busch’s arrest.
However, most of the clients we talked to said they’ve been satisfied with the service and that they’ll continue using Von Busch and Sons even after Bruce’s arrest.
“I have no reason to leave them, to go to somebody else to get my garbage picked up,” Gary Crogg said.
Channel 8 Eyewitness News did talk to city officials who said the company is taking appropriate action to fix some of the problems regarding garbage not being picked up.
