Childress has 32 years of coaching experience. He even served as an assistant coach at Nebraska from 1998 to 2002 and as associate head coach from 2003 to 2005.
For the last two seasons, Childress served as the Huskers’ director of player development.
“I feel very fortunate to have Rob and his family remain in the Husker baseball family,” Bolt said in a press release. “The amount of baseball knowledge and experience he will contribute to our coaching staff and program will be an incredible asset for us. This is a grand slam hire for our program, and I couldn’t be prouder to have him represent Husker baseball.”
Before returning to Nebraska, Childress spent 16 seasons as the head coach at Texas A&M, leading the team to the NCAA tournament in 13 consecutive seasons.
“Nebraska is a special place, and my family and I couldn’t be happier to stay in Lincoln,” Childress said in the release. “I can’t thank Coach Bolt enough for this opportunity. I’m excited to hit the ground running and ready to get to work with our players.”
Sirianni, who has 13 years of coaching experience, spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Witchita State.
“I am excited for Mike and his family to join us in Lincoln,” Bolt said. “Mike brings a wealth of experience and excellence both on the coaching and recruiting side of the game and will be a tremendous asset to our staff. He has coached and recruited some of the best players in the country, and I look forward to him joining the Husker baseball family.”
During his time at Witchita State, Sirianni helped develop several talented players, including a freshman All-American and 17 all-conference selections.
“My family and I are so excited for the opportunity to join such a storied program,” Sirianni said. “I’ve seen firsthand the excitement surrounding Husker baseball and understand the tremendous responsibility that comes with being a part of this staff. We are extremely honored and ready to get to work.”
The hires come a week after Bolt announced that the Huskers parted ways with assistant coach Jeff Christy.
