SWAT team searched northeast Lincoln home after man fired gun inside, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The SWAT team helped search for a man who fired a gun inside a northeast Lincoln home on Monday, police say.

Around 12:30 a.m., 39-year-old Russell Welch was with four other people at a home near 66th and Dudley Streets.

Eventually, Welch “got upset” and fired a gun near a woman, who ran out of the home and called 911, police said.

The SWAT team arrived at the home and served a search warrant.  Inside, authorities found ammo boxes and a bullet hole in the living room, police said.

But Welch was nowhere to be found.

Later on, Welch was spotted nearby, and officers took him into custody.

He was arrested on suspicion of terroristic threats, use of a weapon to commit a felony and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
