Nebraska’s SAC Museum celebrates 25 years

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

For a quarter century, the museum’s mission has been to preserve the legacy of the Strategic Air Command while inspiring the next generation.

With that mission in mind, Nebraska’s only astronaut, Clayton Anderson, is guiding the nonprofit into the future.

“The Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum is on a mission to inspire the discovery of flight and space exploration,” Anderson, the CEO of the museum, said in a press release.

He continued, “It is our job to show kids what is possible.”

In its STEM-focused programs, the museum works closely with Nebraska students, calling them “tomorrow’s scientists and explorers.”

Since its founding in 1998, the SAC Museum has collaborated with Offutt Air Force Base, the Smithsonian Institution and Boeing.

With the exhibits changing regularly, visitors have a reason to come back.

In the future, visitors can expect an array of exhibits, including “Mission: Astronaut,” drone soccer and a new planetarium.
