LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A teen charged in the deadly armed robbery of a Lincoln man will be tried as an adult.

Austin Kelly, 16, faces charges of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, as well as two counts of accessory to a felony.

Grand Island Police say Kelly suggested robbing 62-year-old Todd Scherer to his friend Logan Huntshorse back in March.

After the brutal robbery, police said Huntshorse returned to the park and delivered a deadly blow to Scherer with a baseball bat.

The district court ruled that Kelly should be charged as an adult for suggesting the robbery that ultimately led to Scherer’s death.
