$62 million Fremont Southeast Beltway opens to improve traffic on Highway 77

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — If you frequent Highway 77 in Dodge County, the grand opening of the Fremont Southeast Beltway is probably a relief.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation celebrated with Gov. Jim Pillen and other local leaders responsible for its construction on Tuesday.

Work began in 2020 with the intent to improve traffic flow on U.S. 77, providing long-awaited relief to trucks hauling goods related to economic growth.

Gov. Pillen said, “This beltway is an investment for the future and for families who call Fremont, the county and the region, home. It will serve not only Fremont but also Nebraska as a whole, as it connects farms to markets and improves the free flow of commerce along the U.S. 275 and U.S. 30 corridor.”

The four-lane beltway is a little over three miles long and cost about $62 million.
