Nebraska Republican Party files lawsuit to prohibit America First Party from being officially recognized

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska Republican Party is suing in order to keep the America First Party off of the November ballot.

According to the Nebraska Examiner, the lawsuit is asking the Lancaster County District Court Judge Darla Ideus to overrule Nebraska Secretary of State Bob Evnen’s decision.

The party is asking Evnen to declare that the party’s language is used to confuse voters, which is a violation of state law. Additionally, the lawsuit argues that the sponsor for the America First Party “dressed up” the party with conservative talking points.

The goal of the lawsuit is to prohibit the America First Party from being officially recognized.

This comes after Evnen’s office announced that the America First Party and the Nebraska Working People Party both met the qualifications for political party formation.
