LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Spreetail hosted its annual back to school event at the Malone Center on Tuesday.

Employees worked to pack a thousand backpacks with school supplies and essentials for Lincoln elementary school students.

Spreetail has hosted this event for the past five years.

CEO Brett Thome said it is a priority every year to figure out how the company can help its community.

This year, it collaborated with a Lincoln basketball team, which volunteered to help pack backpacks.

Members of the team, which is part of local nonprofit Prolific Performance, are taught the importance of giving back to their community.

Michael Blake, senior manager of information technology at Spreetail and vice president of Prolific Performance, said it’s not too late or too soon to help the helpers.
