SAM’s Club car show fundraiser for Children’s Hospital

SAM’s Club at 8480 Andermatt Drive held a special fundraiser for Children’s Hospital. The fundraiser brought support from Midwest Rollers Car Club and several Craft Fair vendors.
Those at the event say it’s a unique way to bring kids in and involve them in getting to know the hospital’s mission.
SAM’s Club and Walmart dedicate a month long drive to help the hospitals with pediatric care.
Children’s hospital in Omaha says they are happy to be a part of it.
“So grateful. It’s amazing, people and their willingness to contribute and donate. It makes a world of difference, a lot for these kids, because it gives us the ability to get out there in the community and provide the care that these kids need,” Children’s Hospital Transport Nurse, Amanda Thompson said.
Organizers say they feel good about it all going to a good cause, and for some it really hits home.
“It’s very cool that people can come out and it really expresses how much hard work pays off and it benefits,” Midwest Rollers Vice President, Todd Francisco said.
“I’ve got two kids, this is a great function and it’s going for a great cause. Fortunately I never had to use it, but after meeting Elliott, I’m glad we had it,” SAM’s Club Lead, Joey Neal said.
Elliott is a two–year–old Children’s Hospital patient that had a rare form of cancer.
With the help of Children’s Hospital, he is now in remission and is an inspiration for the event.
With the proceeds, Children’s Hospital hopes to be able to purchase a new ambulance to help reach kids in need quicker and with the necessary resources.
“The ambulance would obviously have less miles, less mechanical issues, so we’d be able to start rotating and hopefully get on a new pattern of new ambulances in,” Children’s Hospital Transport EMT, Michelle Franks said.
In all, it’s a pleasant day for everyone.
The Children’s Hospital Transport team goes, “We’re making new friends, and getting the word out about what we do and what we need to do it… Getting donations.”
This fundraiser has a goal to raise 5 thousand dollars for Children’s hospital by the end of the day.
Vendors will also donate 10% of all proceeds to Children’s Hospital.
SAM’s Club will be accepting donations through July 10th.
