LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Grand Island man was killed Tuesday in a crash with a tractor on a rural highway in Merrick County.

The crash happened around 6:10 p.m. on Highway 14 near Q Road, just north of Central City.

The sheriff’s office said a tractor was heading north on Highway 14 when it crossed the center line and crashed into a vehicle, driven by 28-year-old Zachary Lepant.

Lepant was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the tractor, a 22-year-old Fullerton man, was taken to a hospital and has since been released.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.  The sheriff’s office thinks both men were sober and wearing seat belts.
