Lincoln air conditioning companies see influx of calls during heat wave

Heat Final

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — During a week with triple-digit temperatures, many rely on air conditioning to stay safe.

So complications with an AC unit can be detrimental.

Adam Sellers, a heating, ventilation and air conditioning manager at Green’s Furnace and Plumbing, said Green’s has received three times the number of calls than usual this week.

He recommends keeping your thermostat at 78 degrees, as well as keeping your blinds closed to promote circulation.

If you do not have AC or yours is not working, you should run as many fans as you can.

“Try to maybe get a portable air conditioner or something to keep the cool on you personally,” said Austin Thornton from National Furnace and Air Conditioning. “It’s really detrimental to be in the heat this long.”

Thornton also recommends yearly checkups on your outdoor AC unit and replacing your indoor filters regularly.
