Man ran off after driving stolen vehicle into ditch in Grand Island, police say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Thursday after he crashed a stolen car into a ditch in Grand Island, police say.
Just after midnight, officers were sent to the area of Walnut and Charles streets on a report of a stolen vehicle.
Police said the stolen vehicle, a Buick Enclave, was being followed by the owner.
Eventually, the Buick ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Highway 34 and Highway 281.
The vehicle continued in the opposite lane before driving into a ditch.
The driver, Bile Afea, got out and ran away, police said. Officers found him nearby with cuts on his left arm.
Afea was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including theft by unlawful taking and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.
