Record rainfall with cooler temperatures through the weekend
Very impressive rainfall totals coming from late Friday into Saturday. Reports from areas mainly south of I-80 were as high as 4″ in a few spots!
In terms of official reports seen at local airports, Lincoln won this time! Recording over 2″ of rain, we set a new record for the most rainfall ever seen on August 26th in Lincoln’s history.
Looking back, it’s been a very long time since Lincoln’s seen over 2″ of rain in one day. In fact, it’s been over two years since we’ve seen that much rain. The last time was March 14th, 2021, when Lincoln recorded close to 3″.
The cooler weather will continue for Sunday, too. YAY! Plenty of sunshine and light winds will make for a beautiful weekend overall. Much needed after the oppressive heat from this past week! Hopefully, you can take advantage!
Temperatures across southeast Nebraska will largely be in the low to mid 80s by Sunday afternoon. Again, a sight for sore eyes!
We’re hinting at a warmup by the end of next week. It doesn’t look like we are completely done with the heat, but it is still August. No great rain chances in the near future, so weather looks to cooperate for Volleyball Day in Nebraska.
