Man seriously injured in downtown Lincoln assault, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln man is in critical condition after an assault early Sunday morning, police say.
Officers responded to a call of an assault near 13th and P streets just after 1 a.m. Sunday.
When officers arrived, they found a 55-year-old Lincoln man unconscious with a head injury.
The man has life-threatening injuries, including a significant brain bleed, police said.
Officers determined that three people had gotten out of a vehicle and approached the victim.
Police said the victim was punched in the face and fell back, hitting his head on the sidewalk.
The assailants got back into the vehicle and drove off.
Police located the vehicle at 18th and O streets soon after.
Officers also found 22-year-old Angel Rodriguez Alvis and arrested him on suspicion of first-degree assault.
