Pedestrian dies after being struck by semi in Grand Island

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man died Friday after being hit by a semitrailer in Grand Island.
Police said a semi was going north on Highway 281 around 10 a.m. when it hit a pedestrian at the intersection with West Faidley Avenue.
The pedestrian, a 60-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital, then flown to a hospital in Omaha.
He died Friday afternoon, according to the Grand Island Police Department.
Police said the driver of the semi had a green light.
The driver saw the pedestrian and tried to drive onto the median, police said.
