Man accused of smashing car windows at downtown Lincoln parking garage
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Monday after police say he broke into several cars at a downtown Lincoln parking garage.
Around 5 a.m., officers were sent to the University Square Parking Garage near 14th and O streets.
When officers arrived, they saw 35-year-old Markus Lopez throwing items off of the third level, police said.
Officers tried to stop Lopez, who tried to run away, but they caught up to him.
Police said eight vehicles had about $5,300 in damage to their doors and windows.
Another $1,300 worth of items were taken from the cars, according to police.
Lopez was arrested on suspicion of criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking and obstructing a police officer.
