Lincoln man facing manslaughter charge in deadly downtown assault
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The man accused in the deadly assault in downtown Lincoln late last month is facing an additional charge.
At a Tuesday hearing, the Lancaster County Attorney’s Office charged 22-year-old Angel Rodriguez Alvis with manslaughter and first-degree assault.
On Aug. 27 around 1 a.m., officers found 55-year-old James Baylor of Lincoln unconscious with a head injury near 13th and P streets.
He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, including a brain bleed. Baylor died on Sept. 5.
Police said Rodriguez Alvis had punched Baylor in the face, causing him to fall and hit his head on the sidewalk.
