Questions at quarterback ahead of Nebraska’s game against No. 2 Michigan

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Nebraska football is hosting No. 2 Michigan on Saturday in its second ranked matchup of the season.

The Huskers, who haven’t defeated a ranked team since 2016, lost to then-No. 22 Colorado in week two.

“No one came to the University of Nebraska to not play good teams,” head coach Matt Rhule said at a Monday press conference.

In last year’s 34-3 loss, the Huskers’ offense floundered without starting quarterback Casey Thompson, who was injured two weeks before.

Heading into this year’s matchup, Nebraska is once again dealing with injuries at the position.

Jeff Sims, who suffered an injury against Colorado, sat out in the wins against Northern Illinois and Louisiana Tech.

Heinrich Haarberg replaced Sims in those games but was injured toward the end of the Louisiana Tech game.

Rhule is unsure who will start against the Wolverines.  But he said the quarterback who gives the Huskers the best chance to win will play.

“Everything we do is reps, reps, reps, reps, reps because I don’t know who the hero is going to be this week,” Rhule said.

In addition to the injured QBs, senior linebacker Luke Reimer is questionable to play on Saturday.
