Who let the dogs out? Capital Humane Society is at canine capacity

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Capital Humane Society is calling on people to come adopt dogs this week.

The admissions and assessment center is at 102% capacity, meaning there are more dogs than there are kennels.

The adoption center is at 90% capacity.

Between the two facilities and the foster care program, the humane society has more than 110 dogs.

“It’s a lot of work for staff and volunteers to take care of that many dogs,” said Matt Madcharo, the shelter’s executive director. “And the thing is, more going to keep coming in.”

Madcharo asked for the public’s help in getting those dogs into homes “as quickly as possible.”

From now until Oct. 8, adoption fees will be reduced by 50% on all dogs 5 months or older.
