Snow removal plan in action on Sunday morning

With Lincoln roads getting completely covered with snow Sunday morning, it caused a lot of dangerous roads on one of the busiest travel days of the year.

While there was a lot of snowfall, the Lincoln Public Works snow removal drivers say that the part that is the hardest to clean up is the snow drifting onto the road with heavy gusts.

When it comes to driving near a snow plow, with the road conditions being snowy, Lincoln Public Works drivers want to warn drivers on how to handle passing one of their snow removal trucks.

“So don’t try to pass while a snow team is in motion. Don’t try to cut in-between them if you can usually we are going at a speed that’s probably all the fast you want to go for the condition anyway.”

Lincoln snow plows also have had a lot of great advances in technology to make the process of cleaning up the streets quicker.

Lincoln Public Works has added tablets to track where all of the snow plows have been throughout the day, and they have added a wing plow that they say makes one plow nearly two plows.
