Lincoln East girls golf wins first state title; Southwest’s Larson is individual champion
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln East girls golf team won its first team championship Tuesday at Riverside Golf Club in Grand Island.
But Lincoln Southwest sophomore Eden Larson won the Class A individual championship.
Larson and East’s Isabella Elgert were tied after 36 holes, forcing a sudden-death playoff. It was the first playoff for a Class A tournament since 2004.
The two played three additional holes, and Larson won in comeback fashion after a 7-stroke deficit.
East fired a season-low score of 309 in round one before sealing the deal with a 321 during round two to claim the title.
