Sen. Bob Krist candidate profile

Senator Bob Krist is running on the Democratic ticket in the Nebraska Gubernatorial race.
Krist served in the U.S Air Force for more than 20 years, and then, was elected into the Nebraska State Legislature representing north Omaha.
The Republicans from the very start have claimed Senator Krist, who was formally a Republican himself, has flip-flopped into the Democrat party, but he doesn’t mind that label.
“It doesn’t bother me that they label me as a flip-flop because it differentiates me for who I am. I am not a follower, I am a leader, I said many times also my mantra has always been lead, follow or get out of the way. I wasn’t ready to get out of the way after I was term-limited from the legislature,” said Sen. Krist.
In the last legislative session, the biggest issue that plagued the whole year was property tax relief not being passed.
Which Senator Krist says can be very easily fixed if he were to be elected.
“I have professed and will continue to press that I’m all about local control well you can’t keep saying it without doing something about it, and doing something about it means leading those tax dollars there for the local government counties in particular and the school board. To have that money to invest in education which again will reduce the burden on property taxpayer,” stated Sen. Krist.
But Senator Krist says the main thing that makes him different from any another politician is he independent views.
“I’ve always considered myself to be something between a Kennedy Democrat and a Reagan Republican. Sen. Walz and I have said all over the state, our style is to bring people together around the roundtable discussion. The table might be oblong or rectangular but sit around the table with people who are experts who have been there done that,” says Sen. Krist.
