Missing man found trapped under fallen tree in rural southeast Nebraska pasture
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A missing man was found Sunday under a fallen tree in a rural southeast Nebraska pasture.
Around 11 a.m., the Gage County Sheriff’s Office received a report that 62-year-old Virgil Janzen had gone missing.
The sheriff’s office said no one had heard from Janzen since Saturday morning. He also hadn’t shown up for work on Sunday.
Family and friends started searching Janzen’s property and a farm where he worked.
Later on, the sheriff’s office pinged Janzen’s phone in the area of 80th and B Line roads near Blue Springs.
Deputies found Janzen in a pasture nearby, trapped under a fallen tree, the sheriff’s office said. He had been trapped since 2 p.m. Saturday.
Janzen was flown by helicopter to a Lincoln hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown.
