Lincoln health official encourages people to get yearly flu vaccine

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Flu season is underway, and a Lincoln health official is reminding people to get their yearly flu vaccine.

Kerry Kernen, assistant health director of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department, said the vaccine protects yourself and others from the virus.

“If you do get the flu, it might be a milder case,” she said.  “Your signs and symptoms may not last as long.”

Kernen also said the vaccine can help people avoid doctor visits and missing work and school.

More information on flu vaccines can be found on the health department’s website.
