A big concern for a lot of gas stations nationally and locally right now is having scammers stealing your credit card information at the gas pump.
"What happens in a credit card data capture, is the device can either be placed on or on the outside, which is rare," says Mark Whitehead the owner of Phillips 66 "but what happens is this where it goes in. If somebody got access to the back this deal they can put a skimming device along through here it locks back up nobody knows that that device is on there they come back later and can retrieve that and all that credit card information is stored and then gets compromised."
So now if you download the Phillips 66 app, and put your credit card information into the app and avoid the worry of getting scammed.
"Again you’re credit car information never leaves your phone. So the threat of getting your credit card information compromised by a capture device is completely eliminated," added Whitehead.
This app isn’t just for the security of your credit card, it’s also for convenience.
"It’s high security so you don’t need to worry about the compromise of your credit," says Whitehead "its for more convenient instead of going through about 5 different screens on the dispenser and every dispenser seems to be a little bit different depending on where you’re shopping and answering a whole bunch of questions you don’t even deal with this."
So the next time that you go to a Phillips 66 download their app, so that you can avoid getting scammed at the gas pump.
