Shoplifter nearly causes crash after stealing costume from Walmart, Nebraska police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A woman is accused of leading police on a high-speed chase Tuesday after stealing a costume from Walmart.

Sapphire Utley was caught shoplifting at the south Walmart in Grand Island on Halloween, according to police.

Authorities said she sped off in a white Dodge Avenger just before 1:15 p.m. and nearly caused a crash.

The Grand Island Police Department found Utley at a hotel and arrested her.

She’s charged with shoplifting, operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest and driving with a suspended license.

Police are also looking for another woman, Jordana Nelson, who they also think stole items from Walmart.
