John Cook, seven Nebraska volleyball players earn Big Ten postseason honors

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Seven Nebraska volleyball players and head coach John Cook were given Big Ten postseason honors on Thursday.

Cook was named the conference’s Coach of the Year after leading the Huskers to their first Big Ten title since 2017.

Harper Murray, Lexi Rodriguez, Bergen Reilly and Merritt Beason earned All-Big Ten first-team honors.

In addition, the conference named Rodriguez the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, Reilly the Big Ten Setter of the Year and Murray the Freshman of the Year.


Andi Jackson and Bekka Allick got spots on the All-Big Ten second team.

Nebraska had three selections for the conference’s all-freshman team: Reilly, Murray and Jackson.

To round out the list, Maggie Mendelson was one of the Big Ten’s sportsmanship honorees.


On Sunday, Nebraska was selected as the No. 1 overall seed for the NCAA tournament.

The Huskers are hosting the first and second rounds at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Nebraska is opening the tourney with a match against Long Island University on Friday at 7 p.m.
