Magic Moments: Lincoln mom battling cervical cancer surprised with holiday gifts
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Jamie Speth is a single mom raising three kids while battling stage 4B cervical cancer.
She was diagnosed in 2022 and after months of treatments, received news that she had triumphed over the cancer.
But at the six-month checkup, Speth learned that the cancer had returned, this time spreading into her lungs and bloodstream.
On Tuesday, Speth – surrounded by her family – had something positive come her way: Magic Moments.
Each year, Union Bank & Trust selects families in Lincoln to surprise with gifts.
During the event, Speth was overwhelmed with emotions, seeing all the gifts she and her kids received.
She got gift cards to places like Urban Air and the Lincoln Zoo, places where she can spend time with her family.
Speth also received an empty book to write her life story in for her kids to have.
“They’d have a remembrance of that and then they could also know just how much I love them how hard this whole whole thing was on me and just that no matter what, I’m still here,” Speth said.
Speth’s doctors tell her she has one more chance at successful treatment.
“I’m just crossing my fingers that it works because I don’t want to leave my kids,” she said.
