Huskers sweep Pitt, advance to national championship game
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — No. 1 Nebraska volleyball defeated Pitt in three sets on Thursday night, securing a spot in the national championship game.
The Huskers won the match in Tampa, Florida, 25-20, 25-23, 25-17.
Offensively, Nebraska hit at .245, compared with Pitt’s .137.
On defense, the Huskers racked up 15 blocks to eight for the Panthers.
The first set started neck and neck, but the Huskers began to pull away midway through.
The Panthers were hot on the Huskers’ heels in the second set, but Nebraska won on a Pitt service error.
The Huskers dominated in the third set, leading by as many as 10 points.
Freshman Harper Murray led the Huskers with 13 kills, and Merritt Beason added four aces.
Lexi Rodriguez recorded 14 digs, and Bekka Allick made 10 blocks.
The Huskers will face Texas in the national championship on Sunday.
Nebraska will be playing for its sixth national title.
That game will air on Channel 8 at 2 p.m.
