Two inmates die at Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two inmates at the Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln died this week, officials say.

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services said Thomas Nesbitt, 77, died Wednesday.

Michael Pendell, 69, died Thursday.

Nesbitt was serving a life sentence for first-degree murder in Douglas County.

Pendell was serving a 25- to 50-year sentence for first-degree sexual assault of a child in Gage County.

Their cause of death is unknown, but both men were being treated for medical conditions.

A grand jury will investigate both deaths, as required by state law.
