Lincoln: 3 serious motorcycle accidents in less than 24 hours

Lincoln police responded to three serious accidents involving motorcycles over the weekend, all accidents happened within less than 24 hours.
As of right now, one motorcyclist has lost his life.
Saturday around 5:30pm, a motorcycle collided with a car at the intersection of 16th and K.
“When we arrived, there was 2 people that were on a motorcycle that were injured from this accident,” Lincoln Police said.
2 people were taken to the hospital. The passenger of the motorcycle remains in critical condition. The driver has some broken bones.
Nearly four hours later, a motorcyclist was killed in an accident at 27th street and Old Cheney road.
The motorcyclist was 27–year–old Logan Langner of Lincoln.
Sunday afternoon, LPD arrived at a motorcycle accident in the Fallbrook area.
Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded immediately with life saving measures.
“The time the two collided, both were westbound though. The rest of the accident is being investigated to determine the cause,” Lincoln Police Officer Mike Schmidt said.
The motorcyclist involved is still in critical condition. According to police, the accident was likely a result of drivers not being aware of their surroundings.
“Motorcyclists can be hard to see at times, unfortunately, so we just ask you to take that extra time to proceed with caution so we don’t have these continue,” Schmidt said.
Officer Schmidt says it’s all about reading the road for yourself and other motorists and to know that the road is shared by everyone.
“Obviously riding a motorcycle can be dangerous at times, unfortunately. We just encourage all drivers– motorcycle and auto drivers to look twice, pay attention,” Schmidt said.
Officials are urging motorcyclists to obey traffic laws just the same as cars and that all motorists on the roadways should look out for motorcyclists in their peripheral view.
