Chilly start to New Year’s Day, near seasonal by the afternoon
Happy New Year! The first half of the week will be dry and quiet, before small chances for precipitation arrive later in the week. Temperatures gradually warm on Tuesday, before another cold front send highs below normal on Thursday.
A dense fog advisory is in place through 10:00am today (New Year’s Day). Fog may cause reduced visibility as well as slick spots on roads in parts of SW and central Nebraska.
Starting in the early morning temperatures will be chilly with many in the teens, we slowly warm into the mid and lower 30s by the late afternoon.
Highs struggle to reach the lower and mid 30s across the SE. Temperatures will be near normal and/or a degree or two slightly below average by the late afternoon.
Even with highs in the 30s, the added wind chill will make temperatures feel like the lower and mid 20s for the second half of the day. Another day to bundle up!
