Lancaster County included in a winter weather advisory, areas north of Platte River could see 6+ inches of snow

Falling temperatures are already making travel difficult in western and northern Nebraska.  A winter weather advisory has been posted for Lancaster County with two to four inches of snow expected.  Rain is expected to change to snow late in the afternoon into early evening and continue snowing though much of the day on Sunday.  Areas north of the Platte river could see 6 to 12 inches of snow.   Travel is already difficult in northern Nebraska where semis have jackknifed and the rain has turned to ice and snow.  Wind gusts up to 40 to 50 mph will also make travel difficult.  Here are some pictures the Nebraska State Patrol posted this morning. You can check 511.nebraska.gov for the latest travel information.
