Father’s Day spending to set record

Have you bought your gift for dad yet?

This year, Americans are expected to spend more on Father’s Day than ever before.

According to the National Retail Federation, this year, Americans will spend a record $16-billion on Father’s Day gifts.

The average person is expected to spend around $139.

So how are most of us showing dad the love?

According to the NFR, the most popular gift is a greeting card, followed by a special outing, with people expected to spend about $3.3-billion on outings with their father.

Clothing comes in third then gift cards, followed by books and dvds.

The survey found  that 40 percent of shoppers who own a smartphone or table plan to use their device to research prices.

Despite the surge in Father’s Day spending–the number doesn’t come close to how much people spend on mom, for Mother’s Day.

The survey found that 76 percent of people surveyed plan to celebrate Father’s Day, compared to 84 percent, who celebrated Mother’s Day.
