Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach extends hours due to freezing temps in Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach is extending its hours to help the community amid freezing temperatures in Lincoln.
The nonprofit will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily to anyone who needs shelter from the bitter cold.
Normally, the nonprofit is closed on Thursdays. But it will remain open this week due to the weather.
Hot meals will be served daily at Matt Talbot. Guests will also have access to snacks, water, coffee, showers and laundry services.
Alynn Sampson, the nonprofit’s executive director, said caring for the community is a priority for the organization.
“I want our staff to be available to get items that people need,” Sampson said. “We have laundry services here available; people can come in and take a warm shower if they want.”
Outreach staff will also help guests with other basic needs and make sure they have a place to stay overnight.
