Maurice Washington cited for having drug paraphernalia in dorm

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police said Nebraska running back Maurice Washington was cited overnight for possession or use of drug paraphernalia. 

UNLPD said officers responded to an odor of marijuana coming from a dorm room in University Suites. Officers met with Washington, who had a marijuana pipe with residue on it, UNLPD said. 

Officers searched the room for drugs, but none were found, according to UNL police. 

The citation is a misdemeanor. 

Athletic Department officials told Channel 8 Eyewitness News in a statement they are aware of the situation and “addressing it.”
