Gage County Sheriff investigating hit-and-run of horse

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after deputies found a horse on the side of the road that had been struck by a vehicle. 

Wednesday afternoon, deputies found the animal laying on the side of the road near the intersection of Linden Road and Highway 77. 

GCSO said attempts made to locate the owner of the horse failed. Deputies gathered vehicle debris and roadway evidence to reconstruct the collision. 

GCSO said the horse had to be put down due to the extent of its injuries.
