One killed in overnight trailer home fire in rural southern Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A person was killed early Tuesday morning in a trailer home fire in rural southern Nebraska.

The Kearney County Sheriff’s Office said the fire was reported around 2:50 a.m. at a trailer home in Wilcox.

After crews contained the fire, they found a body inside the home.

The sheriff’s office, the Nebraska State Fire Marshal and the Kearney County Attorney’s Office are investigating the death.

An autopsy has been ordered.  No foul play is suspected, the sheriff’s office said.

Several nearby volunteer fire departments helped extinguish the flames.
