Omaha man gets over seven years in federal prison for selling cocaine

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An Omaha man will spend over seven years behind bars for selling cocaine, the U.S. Attorney’s Office says.
Gary Pope II, 42, was sentenced Wednesday to seven years and three months for conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
Authorities were aware that Pope was a cocaine dealer in Omaha, according to the attorney’s office.
Investigators wiretapped Pope’s phone in 2022.
The wiretap confirmed that Pope received deliveries of cocaine from Texas, the attorney’s office said.
In a plea deal, Pope admitted to selling at least 5 kilograms of cocaine in Nebraska between Jan. 19 and July 15, 2022.
After his release from prison, Pope will serve a three-year term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
Pope has also pleaded guilty in Iowa to possession with intent to distribute marijuana and carrying a firearm while selling drugs.
He is scheduled to be sentenced for those charges on March 19.
