Community members help Lincoln Fire and Rescue welcome new fire engine

An exciting day for Lincoln Fire and Rescue as the community welcomed a new fire engine to Station 6.
The station, located near 48th and Highway 2, also known as Peanut Hill was met with community members of all ages to give the engine it’s first cleaning and push it into the garage.
Not only is it a great community event, but a much needed resource for the city.
“A lot of our fleet has been challenged over the years with delays in replacement so any new apparatus we can put in place really impacts our reliability in service and impacts the people who have to maintain and repair engines,” Chief Michael Despain said.
Seven more engines have been purchased but it will be several more months before they arrive.
