Man arrested after hitting officer with his car while fleeing arrest

Lincoln Police arrested 36-year-old Kirt Pelowski after they said he intentionally hit an officer with his car. 

It happened March 24, shortly after 6:30 a.m.. Officer Angela Sands said police got a report of a suspicious vehicle and in their investigation found out the driver of that car had a warrant. 

As the officer approached the car, Pelowski starting backing out of the stall to avoid him. Sands said he intentionally swerved to try and hit the officer. 

Sands said the officer jumped out of the way but was still hit by the car. The officer injured his hand and elbow. 

The driver fled but they were able to arrest Pelowski when he crashed his car into an electrical box on March 27th. He abandoned the car but was found a short while later near McPhee Elementary school where we was arrested. 

Pelowski was arrested for 2nd degree assault on a police officer, operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, and willful reckless driving.
