Dr. John’s clerk arrested for helping robber steal thousands of dollars worth of items from the store

Lincoln Police arrested 21-year-old Shantel Stickney for aid and abet a felony theft after she allegedly helped a thief get away with thousands of dollars in cash and merchandise at the Dr. John’s store where she worked.

Police said Stickney called police on January 11, 2019 and told them a masked man had entered the store near I-80 and Cornhusker Highway with a gun and took cash from the register and thousands of dollars worth of merchandise before leaving the store.

Stickney told police the suspect also stole the surveillance system during the robbery, but police later found the allegedly stolen system.

What they found on the video lead them to suspect Stickney’s involvement in the crime. The footage showed a car pulling into the parking lot and flashing the lights twice, police said it was “as if signaling,” and Stickney went to the room where the surveillance system was kept. Police said the system disconnected as the suspect entered the building.

Police then got several tips that this was an “inside job.” Investigators also found out the car used in the robbery belonged to someone known to Stickney and recovered stolen merchandise.

Stickney was arrested Sunday.

Police said more arrests are likely.
