Lincoln group works to guide community on public policy change

The group, Change Now LNK says the protests in late spring were necessary but what happens after, is what is going to make the difference. Through public policy change.
“There was a lot of support of these protest but when it comes to getting educated, we are not seeing the same amount of turnout. So, what we want to do is just keep getting our face out their in Lincoln,” Kiara Wiliams said.
The group is holding a seminar for people in the community that want to ignite change but don’t know how. Williams said protests were important but they were only a start. Figuring out how to communicate with city officials is crucial.
“I think at the beginning of this, there wasn’t a trust or relationship with those community entities and as we are moving on in the movement we are able to build that with them,” Williams said.
So far, the group has been able to meet with LPD, the mayors office and they already have plans to meet with Lincoln school officials soon.
They only hope the conversations will continue to grow as they work to educate more citizens on how to write, submit and send in public policy changes.
If you’d like to attend their seminar, schedule for July 24th, you can find all the information on Change Now LNK’s Facebook page.
